Stratolounger
My husband bought a Stratolounger recliner 8/24/17 at Big lots, thinking it would not have toxic chemicals in it, since the tag on it said this problem w/ the chair is less likely. My goodness, i could not even walk next to it w/o having a VERY sick reaction!!!
I had it put out in the garage far away from me; and needless to say, it's going back to the store tomorrow!!!
I must say tho', the gentleman who sold it to my husband was very kind, and he had no idea the recliner was so loaded w/ toxic chemicals. The chair looked exactly like what he wanted....what a shame it cannot be used, since my husband is a disabled veteran who wanted the recliner to use after his hip surgery.
- Sales people are very kind

One bad apple
Out of stock
Went to get a patio set. They were out.
Had associate call another store to see if they had it. They had three. Got there and they had none. Had associate at second store call another location.
They had five. Got there. They had zero. Had associate at third store call another location.
I asked to speak with them. I asked him to virtually go see if there was one in stock.
He assured me he had one left. I am driving over 100 miles and that sob better be there.
Material stinks

Big Lots- Where There's Junk In Every Isle
The building is in dire need of renovation. Leaking roof, bad plumbing.
The store looks old and outdated. The location I was referring to is in Desoto, Texas.
I can't say how many times I've bought headphones from them and in months they break. I've even bought a measuring cup from them and in a few months the handle broke. No ...I'm not heavy handed and I take good care of my belongings, their products are just cheap. That goes for their furniture as well.
I wasn't just a customer, but a former employee as well. I've witnessed customers complaining about missing screws, damaged parts, poor quality....and obviously it's true because the same issues were said about their furniture at other locations as well. I can't see how some people think this is a great store, which says a lot about them. There's nothing wrong with searching for bargains, but quality shouldn't be compromised for "a good price".
And looking at some of the shoppers, some of them wouldn't know quality if it walked up and introduce itself. Plus some of the customers were rude and ignorant and just plain cheap. But what do you expect from a location that’s on the borderline near the hood? Sub-par also describes the employment.
Like most retail companies, expect favoritism, politics, bureaucracy, over-stressed managers, overworked/underpaid employees, a high turnover rate. You'd think that a big company like Big Lots would pay their employees more money and offer more hours. For a cashier, the starting pay is $8.00 an hour. Nevermind if you have experience on your resume'.
Also they seem to hire for mostly part time positions unless one is applying for management. There were times they had me only scheduled for 4-8 hours for the week. They highest amount of hours I've had was 29 and that's if someone called out or if we were understaffed. On average, I'd have at least 15-21 hours a week.
Favoritism played part in training. Most of the training was done through a computer, which is impersonal, with an unreal expectation of full understanding of your applied position after completion. If there was any personable training, it wasn't much. More like a mention here and there.
Don't count on management being thorough. They'll even get mad, think you're *** or look at you crazy if you say you don't know. If they liked you and you kiss their *** they may take you under their wing and show you the ropes. As for the staff, all three managers played favorites and were two-faced.
If you’re a worker that minds your business, speaks your mind and not an *** kisser, they’ll treat you like the plague. The Store Team Leader was a miserable, fat cave *** that doesn't know how to communicate with people. Regardless if she was stressed out by upper management, had health or personal issues, that doesn't give her the right to talk to employees any kind of way. Both the Assistant Team Leader and Merchandise Manager were a couple of coons that played by the book and did as they're told.
The Leads and workers were a bunch flip floppers and often coming or leaving, due to various reasons. Usually with low income jobs, they mostly harbor individuals with limited options or skills. This job is not even worth taking as a second income, if you're looking to make extra money. And it is not a job you would consider as a career, just something to help get you by until something better comes along.
The only good thing I can say about Big Lots is the 20% employee discount.
Overall, working for Big Lots is a joke and I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. Well not this location, anyway.

Big Lots - Stratolounger Stallion Snuggle Up Recliner Review
Purchased stratounger comfort view with motion headrest today & received delivery today,& the electric headrest motion feature does not work it is powered because the vibrating massage feature works, big lots stated they will swap it out when they receive the next shipment, which is fine as long as they do as they say,but I'm trying to locate the manufacturer of the stratolounger to talk to them, because I did not receive no owners manuals except for the tags attached to the furniture

The floor models on certain furniture products are not sold mostly due to the amount of time it takes to assemble them. In the case of outdoor furniture the stores are directed by their corporate offices not to sell the floor models until they are discontinued. You don't need to worry about getting one since the season hasn't even started yet.
The manufacturers haven't started shipping the outdoor furniture to stores on a larger scale yet because the season hasn't come yet.
Give it a few weeks more and they'll most likely get more of what you are looking for in again. Also there is a selection of outdoor furniture on the website that you can order right from there and have shipped directly to your home. Most shipping is free if over a certain dollar amount too, just be sure to read the fine print to be sure what is and is not.Have a nice day.
