Big Lots DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR EMPLOYEES NOR THE CONSUMER JUST MONEY
I have never worked for company that is just horrible to their employees and the consumer. I'm currently an employee at Big Lots.
I have seen it all now!! I was made towork all day before Thanksgiving and the dday of and was told not getting paid holiday pay. So I missed time with my family so this company could stay opened all day Thanksgiving to make money!! And your not paying me!!
Not to mention Management is horrible!! They r the worst I have seen how the treat customers and employees. Not a good company.
I would not recommend this company to friends and or family!! They r not family oriented company and or have a religious background and that's scary to me!!

I've been with Big lots going on 5 years, it is a great company to work for! We have a great management team which I've just become part of.
Through the years I've seen a lot of employees come and go for different reasons but I've never seen anyone who actually hated working for them. If you are there to work and earn your pay and not be on your phone during working hours then you should have absolutely no problem being an employee.
It all just depends which store you work at and who's the manager. I used to work at a big lots in MA, I loved it at first but then I noticed that the assistant manager started picking on me and mistreating me.
I confronted the store manager and the assistant manager and everything changed but after that I wasn't really feeling the store until I asked for a transfer.
The big lots that I work at now, let's just say I like it more than where I used to work, they're more understanding and they know that things happen in life.
And there's a big difference when you have a male manager and a female manager.
My experience as a new dts lead manager. I'm given control over dts team.
I started at the bottom and worked my way up. I'm a manager now. I treat my staff with respect if I am treated with respect.
I am nobody's friend at work. If they don't work, I will send them home.
I hope you realize that Thanksgiving is not a religious holiday and you're generalizing a whole company based on your experience at one store? What rock did you crawl out from that you expect to have holidays off in retail? Thank God that our military troops and first responders work to allow you to cry about your personal issue with your PTL retail job!
You suck
Seems like Biglots in general needs to rework and screen management. Especially in the failing stores in MA Yes there are a few good managers but for the most part there are more bad ones especially if you work in a failing store.
The male managers where I work have an issues with race and will gladly tell you to your face then lie about it when there are witnesses.
One of them openly sweet hearts steals and breaks the law and occasionally drops racial slurs towards Spanish speaking employees. Your hours will be cut if; you provide excellent customer service, say you enjoy working here, name dropped in a survey, for working in general.
Oh boy if you have a disability these male mangers will discriminate against you and will go as far as doing things that require police involvement. These managers hate the store and don't want to be there.
Extremely petty the guys (managers in the store) throw fits and storm out the store ignore associates when called, discriminate, berate in front of customers, be openly racist towards workers and are rude to customers.
When the DM shows up thats when they want to clean up the store a day before. Even though they left the store a mess( told employees not to do certain tasks leave it for the employees who's hours were cut to do) for a week to spite all the hard workers. All the male managers need to be fired.
They love chaos, set employees up to be fired, cause bodily harm to employees and they cause customers to fight so they can talk and laugh about it later.
I work for the biglots in franklin park we recently got a new store manager worst ive ever seen his name is jim and he is a total bully and a racist threating people with they're jobs if things dont go his way.... And on top of it he is the laziest person I've ever seen he eats all day in his office and plays pokemon go
I've worked for Big Lots for 16 years. Be thankful you have a job!
Read your handbook on holiday hours. If your boss is miss treating you you can always make a phone call to stop it. Big Lots is a great company to work for, they are fair, they offer benefits to us that most companies have done away with. Even medical to part time employees.
They offer employees to climb the corporate ladder. And the job is very easy. It gets busy at times but for the most part it is the best job I have had.
I love the people I have worked with over the years and I love the customers that I gotten to be friends with....we are not just a team we are family. So your speaking for yourself here on this board not for all of us...part of team 1534.
You must be in a better store then! I've been there 5 years...
part time. NO MEDICAL benefits and was made to work just HOURS after my mother who lived 6 hours away passed away!! Management told corporate they thought I said "my dog"...
who's dog doesn't live with them?!! Duhhh
I have trained management, have been passed over for jobs that I know better than anyone else. When jobs became available they're not even posted anywhere, then you're told, you should've applied.
I agree. I work at Big Lots.
Are store is #1 in the district. Been there almost 2 years. Just moved up to DTS LEAD. Great store manager.
We have a great team, and team leaders get the job done.
Best job I have had, I appreciate the hard work of all non management associates. Couldn't do it without them.
No the *** they donโt.i work for big lots and the do not care about their employees. Iโm an Atlm the district manager I have likes to throw the rock and hide his hand. When you complain to hr here in Charleston sc they do nothing!
That is 100% true
Nope shes right the management is the worst ive ever had to deal with. I wonder everday how do they get away with this ***!

I work for big lots and a new manager started 2 months ago and he is a bully. Threatens to right ppl up for being friends out side work .
Calling ppl fat and lazy.
I'm just saying, your store had horrible management. Don't condem the whole company because YOU had a bad store team.
Don't like it?
Quit. Simple as ***.
Trust me... it's not just her store... it's a lot of them lately.
Everybody gets 4 hours holiday pay added to your check providing that you did not request off or call out sick the day before or after the holiday. There is not an additional hourly holiday rate or time and a half just a flat 4 hour bonus.
Read the employee handbook if your manager is not helpful. Which is typical for bigots. Biglots is a public company and believe me they follow labor laws whether your manager is aware of it or not. Holiday pay is handled automatically by corporate not the store so you got paid.
When you accepted the job in retail you agreed to work holidays.
Thank Target for everyone being open on thanksgiving now. They broke the mold.
Also depends if they were just seasonal workers or actually part of the regular safe. I have been with the company for 3 years.
Promoted each year.
Started as seasonal then holiday pay was not in effect until I was not temporary. When you sign on as seasonal u don't get holiday pay unless you remain after the season and for future holidays.
