When 1, I stated that I can live with my decisions and 2. I am not angry that should be a sign.

Second I am not sure who the Big Lots person was that posted the fortune 500 go company speach, but you have go tto be kidding me. Go talk to you employees at the store and you will see that you are not running a company the correct way from any point except the offices. The stores and distributions area suck and the employees fell that they have to do what they are told no matter what at no matter the rick and the cost. I made my decision and did what I knew to be right, I was then seen as someone that needed to be replaced and was so taken care of.

Well I refused to fire people based on their age, if they were working as hard as they could then they were doing their job. However I do think that they way I was treated was no ethical!

When asked to fix the store, I was told not to go down alone and that many of my associates should be replaced with younger associates that can work faster. When I refused to write people up that where working as hard as they could and doing as much as they could with the little help and employees and resources that we had. I was then targeted and wrote up for every small thing that came up so that I could be taken out of the way and the employees that they wanted gone would then be able to be terminated by the next manager that they hired that would just obey and not follow the law or morals.

"No matter ..WHAT job..EVERYONE has to CARRY their own weight.."you are only as strong as your "weakest link"..you should have talked to the employees & asked what the "problem" was...& tried to work on it. Perhaps their age had something to do with it.

Perhaps they should have been given "help" in some situations..or perhaps had differnt "duties" that worked better for everyone.".. :)

Not to be rude or condescending, but if your life goal is to work at big lots, then you really dont have any asperations in life you should be thankful that you got fired, thats almost as bad as being a manager at mcdonalds haha

Just watch yourself if you work for Big Lots, you have people like Lareau Barfield and David Zargari that are moving up the lader by stepping on the backs of their employees and taking them out once they have gotten what they needed from them or once the realize that they can not get them to break the law.

Fortune 500 company or not, your employees are the bottom line that are what the customers see. When the customers like the way that a store looks and says that it has never looked better and worse over hears the store manager ask for help and be told that is what he was hired for to figure it out.

That is the same as the District Manager, or who ever the case may be, saying that they have no idea how to fix it and that they are not going to try to help. Manageing doesn't just mean the freight it also means the people and the customers. I saw how this manager was treated and I think that the fact that he was big enough to do what he felt was right speaks allot of him.

I also saqw how he was treated by his boss. I think that since word is that there is to be anew store in town they wanted to clean house of everyone in the store and I only hope that the once left are able to fend for themselves cause they would seem to be the next ones that they are going to go after.

Big Lots is a Fortune 500 company that follows the law. Just do your freaking job!

Sometimes you have to document people who don't perform their duties to the company standard. If you aren't willing to do that, then ultimately it will reflect on you!

Again, just do your job! If you are or were a manager, then manage!

Lie detector tests do not work, get them good and drunk, that way they confess to everything.

Make them take a lie detector test or something.

This sounds very much like Big Lots and dont worry about the ppl who dont believe you they wouldnt believe my story either but there enough of us out there that have been treated the same way. Good luck to you and your future.

I am speaking the truth, however it is easy to speak the truth, harder to prove it and the one thing that a company does is ensure that the employees that still work there don't speak without the fear of loosing their job. I am not bitter, I just feel that people have the right to know. My decisions were my own and I can live with sticking to my morals.

I am not fromm Toronto but it keeps saying Toronto for me.

If you are telling the truth take them to court. If you are just bitter because you were fired for doing the wrong thing forget it.
